Betting on the results of FOX's "Paradise Hotel" is probably a little bit like throwing money down on cock fights or jai alai. You aren't really sure on the rules. You suspect the results are rigged. But what better use do you have for your money? In that spirit, the Internet sports betting site Intertops.com has started to lay odds on the FOX summer demographic hit, installing Dave and Charla as the favorites to win.

Win what?

When it launched, "Paradise Hotel" was a game whose only goal was to stay in Paradise (a luxury resort hidden somewhere in Mexico). Then, for most contestants, the only goal was to outlast the aggressively pugnacious Toni and the temperamental and petulant Scottish-Italian Zach. At some point it became clear that there was actually an end game on the show, but to this day, nobody knows what the prize is, or how it will be obtained.

That hasn't stopped Intertops from making Dave, the wisecracking schemer, a 7/4 favorite and Charla, the not-so-innocent Barbie Girl, a 3/2 favorite. Considering that the show will feature a winning couple, rather than a single winner, do the different odds imply that the good people at the St. John's based sportsbook think that the Charla-Dave alliance is unsteady?

At 2/1, Zach's spunky little gal Amy is the second choice among the ladies, while Keith, who split up the power couple of Zach and Amy, is the runner-up among the men at 6/1. The odds aren't so good for Holly, who can keep pining away for Scott at 13/4 and Beau who, as 6/1 longshot, may have returned to Paradise for nothing.

"This is the first time we have offered odds on this series, but we've watched the ratings and realize how hot this show is, so we figured it would be a great opportunity for our customers to get in on the action," says Michael Maerz, Intertop's chief bet manager.

These odds can change at any time, though, because just when you think you understand what's happening on "Paradise Hotel," the producers find new ways to rig the game and make up new rules. The only thing that's (somewhat) certain is that the show will reach its inevitably stunning conclusion on Wednesday, Oct. 1 on FOX.
